After winning recognition in the Industry 4.0 category in 2018 and the Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) category in 2019, S4P competed in 2020 in the "Automation and Process Control" category.
The finalists in this category were SALT Solutions AG and software4production GmbH. For the final round on 16 November 2020, participants had to give a 20-minute presentation on criteria such as customer benefit, platform suitability, interoperability, brownfield approach, customer communication, and research and development, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.
The customer benefit of the S4P solution was demonstrated by Thomas Lorenscheit (Lorenscheit Automatisierungstechnik GmbH), Jürgen Max (KraussMaffei Automation GmbH), and an internationally active common rail system manufacturer.
S4P won the competition with 790 to 750 points and was thus honoured as "Factory Software of the Year 2020" in the Automation and Process Control category.
