Kickoff of the Research Project on Energy-Efficient Production Planning and Control

On November 27, 2024, our kick-off meeting for the PePPS project took place at Fraunhofer IGCV in Augsburg. Together with the research institutes Gesellschaft zur Förderung angewandter Informatik (GFaI) e.V., IFA - Institute of Production Systems and Logistics, Fraunhofer IGCV and the project advisory committee, including Hirschvogel Group and software4production GmbH, we laid the foundation for an exciting and practice-oriented research endeavor.

The PePPS project aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) identify energy flexibility measures with minimal effort and quantify their impact in advance. To this end, we are developing a holistic model that maps costs and benefits – in particular the interactions between energy costs and logistics costs. The intended result: a demonstrator that is user-friendly, automated and universally applicable.

Kick-off highlights:

  • Getting to know the project partners and exchanging valuable experiences on energy-oriented production planning and control (ePPS).
  • Engaging discussions from the perspectives of research, software development and practical users – an important contribution to developing realistic application scenarios.
  • A tour of the IGCV and insights into the research work on site.

Over the coming months, the focus will be on literature screening, the design of the sub-models and the specification of application scenarios. The next meeting of the project advisory committee will take place in mid-2025. Many thanks to everyone involved for the successful start – we look forward to the continued collaboration!
