In the research project KI-FlORiDA (02/2025–01/2028), an AI-based control system is being developed to optimize nonwoven carding. The goal is to increase productivity, quality and cost-efficiency through the use of optical sensors, edge computing and self-learning systems. The project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs and is led by the Institute for Textile Technology in Augsburg, in cooperation with BWF Group, Dr. Schenk and Baumueller. The results are intended to secure the long-term competitiveness of Bavaria as a business location and can be transferred to other industries, such as the paper industry.
