The ProsKI research project, funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, focuses on disruption-based production planning and control (PPS) over the period from 01/2022 to 12/2024. The consortium – comprising the Chairs of Production Informatics and Organic Computing at the University of Augsburg, the PPS software providers software4production (S4P) and ATR Software, and the industrial companies BSH and Seele – researches assistance systems using artificial intelligence (AI) for fault or disruption scenarios. This is necessary because, in practice, equipment failures, maintenance intervals and predicted disruptions are still entered manually into planning processes by production planners and rely on their experiential knowledge.

On November 5, 2024, a meeting of all partners took place in Augsburg, where the planning results of the solutions were validated using real BSH data. It became clear that the AI-based assistance system we developed provides excellent support to planners in choosing a suitable solution strategy in the event of a disruption. The analytically supported decision-making enables shorter response times and greater agility in ensuring productive and robust production control.
