Initial situation
Manufacturing at DAC Dräxlmaier Automotive Components Co. Ltd., with around 1,000 employees, is characterised by high production volumes, strict quality requirements and the need to trace safety-relevant components without gaps. Automotive interior components and wiring system parts are produced in a highly automated injection moulding environment. Data on components and processes had to be reliably captured and clearly assigned to individual products to meet stringent OEM traceability requirements.
Challenge
A solution was required that ensures end-to-end traceability across the entire manufacturing process, reliably captures production data and integrates seamlessly into the existing IT landscape of the proprietary ERP system. Process parameters, machine states and inspection results had to be documented component-specifically and in an audit-proof manner. A particular requirement was the scalability of the solution across a large number of injection moulding machines and process stations.
Solution
Together with S4P, a complete traceability solution was introduced at DAC Dräxlmaier Automotive Components Co. Ltd., connected to the company's proprietary ERP system. With Easytrace, components and process data are captured without gaps, clearly assigned to individual products and made traceable across the entire manufacturing process. Machine states, process parameters and pass/fail results are captured automatically and stored component-specifically. The interface to the proprietary ERP ensures a consistent data basis for quality records and auditability.
