Initial situation
In mechanical engineering, complex manufacturing orders, high quality requirements and the desire for more transparency in production come together. The operating data of manufacturing was to be captured reliably and combined with the Oracle ERP system in order to make order and operating data transparent in real time, reduce manual acquisition effort and reliably evaluate the utilisation of manufacturing.
Challenge
In mechanical and plant engineering for dosing and plastics technology with long lead times and complex manufacturing orders, complete shop-floor data collection was decisive in order to reliably control manufacturing progress and capacity utilisation. Manual feedback provided no up-to-date view of the shop floor. The goal was end-to-end integration between Oracle ERP and the FELIOS|APS planning system via a powerful BDE solution that makes order and operating data available in real time.
Solution
To optimise its manufacturing processes, Maag Germany GmbH relies on FELIOS|BDE powered by 4BDE, connected to the Oracle ERP system and the FELIOS|APS planning system. Through the integrations, order and operating data are captured and evaluated end-to-end to enable transparent and reliable manufacturing control. Modules deployed: 4BDE – shop-floor data collection for transparent capture and evaluation of order and operating data. Operators book times, good and scrap quantities as well as fault reasons at the shop-floor terminal; the data flows automatically back into Oracle and is available for evaluations, post-calculation and schedule monitoring. Shift supervisors and manufacturing management gain an up-to-date overview of order progress and capacity utilisation at any time.
