Initial situation
Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei GesmbH, with around 700 employees, required end-to-end and transparent capture of operating data in its production of individual parts and assemblies for the automotive, rail and energy sectors. The goal was a reliable, real-time data basis for order status as a complement to the existing ERP system SAP ERP. Cast parts, welded assemblies and mechanical engineering components demand precise production control and reliable feedback from the shop floor.
Challenge
As a manufacturer of complex individual parts and assemblies for multiple industries, the company required reliable feedback from manufacturing. Manual data entry was error-prone and did not deliver timely information on current production progress. Order status and capacity utilisation were only traceable with considerable effort, placing a burden on shop-floor control and on-time delivery to customers. Seamless integration with SAP ERP was essential to avoid duplicate data entry.
Solution
With 4BDE from S4P, Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei GesmbH captures order and operating data directly at the point of origin. The solution is bidirectionally connected to the existing ERP system SAP ERP. Operators book order times, good and scrap quantities as well as fault reasons at the shop-floor terminal; data flows automatically back into SAP and is available for evaluations, post-calculation and deadline monitoring. Shift supervisors and manufacturing management receive an up-to-date overview at all times.
