Initial situation

With around 75 employees, MEV Möbel-Elemente-Vertriebs GmbH required end-to-end planning and control of its manufacturing of wooden components and furniture. The goal was reliable fine planning and efficient production control as a complement to the existing ERP system Sage 100. Furniture parts, fronts and drawers are manufactured in a wide variant mix with individual customer requirements, which demands precise capacity and schedule planning.

Challenge

Variant-rich furniture manufacturing with individual customer requirements required powerful fine planning and transparent production control. A lack of transparency over current order and capacity situations made reliable delivery date commitments difficult. Without a graphical fine planning tool, bottlenecks and schedule risks were difficult to recognise early. The integration of fine planning and production control with Sage 100 was intended to avoid double entries and create a unified data basis.

Solution

To optimise its manufacturing processes, MEV Möbel-Elemente-Vertriebs GmbH uses the solutions from software4production: 4APS for Advanced Planning and Scheduling with graphical fine planning and capacity control, and 4PRO for production control and manufacturing management. Both modules are connected to Sage 100 and ensure a consistent data basis from order scheduling to production feedback. Planners receive an up-to-date overview of capacities and deadlines; production control coordinates material staging and manufacturing workflows.
