Initial situation
Perrin GmbH, with around 120 employees, required seamless and transparent capture of production data in its manufacturing of industrial valves and control fittings. The goal was a reliable real-time overview of ongoing production as a complement to the existing ERP system PSIPenta. Ball valves, shut-off and control valves for process and plant engineering must be manufactured precisely and documented reliably — an environment in which digital shop-floor data creates immediate value for quality and on-time delivery.
Challenge
The demanding manufacture of measurement and control technology required end-to-end capture of production data. Without digital shop-floor data collection, current KPIs on orders, machines and manufacturing times were difficult to obtain in real time. Manual feedback provided delayed and sometimes incomplete information, which made well-founded shop-floor control difficult. Integration with PSIPenta had to be bidirectional to avoid duplicate data entry and to create a consistent data basis for order control and post-calculation.
Solution
With FELIOS|BDE powered by 4BDE, end-to-end digital capture of production data was realised. The solution integrates seamlessly into the existing PSIPenta ERP environment and delivers current KPIs directly from manufacturing. Operators report order times, good and scrap quantities as well as fault reasons at the shop-floor terminal; data flows automatically back into PSIPenta and is available for evaluations and post-calculation. Shift supervisors and manufacturing management receive a real-time overview of order progress and capacity status.
