Initial situation

Timmer GmbH, with around 150 employees, needed end-to-end and transparent control of its manufacturing of pneumatic and vacuum technology. The goal was reliable fine planning and complete acquisition of operating data as a complement to the existing ERP system Alphaplan. Pneumatic pumps, vacuum pumps and dosing technology are produced in variant-rich order manufacturing, which requires precise capacity and schedule planning.

Challenge

Variant-rich manufacturing with high schedule pressure and a growing order mix required end-to-end digitalisation of planning and shop-floor feedback. A lack of transparency over current machine and order data as well as manual, time-consuming data acquisition made reliable control difficult. An integrated solution was required that closely combines work preparation, fine planning and shop-floor data collection with Alphaplan and enables planning-reliable order confirmations towards customers.

Solution

To optimise its manufacturing processes, Timmer GmbH relies on the solutions from software4production: 4APS – Advanced Planning and Scheduling for graphical fine planning with a Gantt board and bottleneck detection, 4AVO – work preparation and order management, and 4BDE – shop-floor and machine data collection in real time. All modules are bidirectionally connected to Alphaplan; order and master data are synchronised automatically and feedback data is returned in real time. Planners, shift supervisors and manufacturing management receive role-specific views of capacities, order progress and machine states.

Timmer GmbH benefits from transparent, reliable fine planning and a real-time overview of machine and order data. Manual acquisition effort was reduced, on-time delivery improved and delivery capability in pneumatic and vacuum technology manufacturing strengthened.
