Project duration: 15.09.2012 – 14.09.2015 | Consortium leader: Wittenstein AG | Project partners: 20, including TRUMPF Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG, Röhm GmbH, BMW AG, SIEMENS AG, Giesecke & Devrient GmbH, DHL Freight GmbH and four research institutes | Project homepage: http://www.projekt-cypros.de
Objective
The project aimed to create a representative range of cyber-physical system modules for production and logistics systems and to develop a reference architecture in order to increase productivity and flexibility in the manufacturing industry.
Results
software4production GmbH developed an operation-parallel simulation environment to validate production plans and support decision-making. The solutions were tested and validated in several demonstration factories.
Industrial Benefit
Cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) enable manufacturing companies to make production processes more efficient, flexible and resilient through networking, intelligence, digital twins and modularity.
Significance
CyProS was one of the first major Industrie 4.0 research projects in Germany and contributed significantly to the development of standards and reference architectures for cyber-physical systems. The findings fed directly into the further development of S4P solutions (MES, APS).
