Project duration: 01.05.2010 – 30.04.2012 | Consortium leader: software4production GmbH | Project partners: Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Technical University of Munich | Funding: BMBF KMUinnovativ funding initiative
Objective
The Green4SCM research project addressed the sustainable optimization of energy and resource use in value creation networks. The goal was to develop a central, service-oriented and web-based supply chain management planning platform to jointly plan and optimize resource use across supplier chains.
Approach
In a networked supplier network, resource efficiency potentials must be leveraged across companies. Supply Chain Management (SCM) coordinates and synchronizes business processes across value creation networks. In the Green4SCM project, software4production developed a web-based planning platform that enables companies to make their energy and resource use transparent across the entire supply chain and to reduce it in a targeted manner.
Industrial Benefit
The planning platform enables small and medium-sized enterprises to identify and leverage cross-company resource efficiency potentials. Through the joint planning and optimization of energy and material use, companies can lower their operating costs while simultaneously reducing their ecological footprint.
Significance
Green4SCM was an early flagship project for sustainable production planning and significantly shaped software4production's expertise in the field of cross-company planning solutions. The insights gained flowed directly into the further development of the S4P solutions (APS, MES).
