Local Intelligence and Networked Planning of Production Machines (InMachine)

Project duration: 01.06.2016 – 31.05.2019 | Consortium leader: Smart Mechatronics GmbH | Project partners: Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), Dortmund University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Dr. Martin Hirsch), Großewinkelmann GmbH & Co. KG, HEERMANN GmbH | Project homepage: http://www.inmachine.de

Objective

The InMachine project aimed to link the real and virtual worlds more closely by means of cyber-physical production systems and to develop an integration concept for existing system and production landscapes.

Results

A flexible, collaborating production system with staged, optimisable planning structures was developed. It enables real-time-capable control that takes into account energy requirements, material availability and delivery date commitments.

Industrial Benefit

The prototypes were validated through use cases in discrete job-shop production (Großewinkelmann) and continuous series production (HEERMANN). S4P developed new solutions for free-space-based production planning and control.

Significance

The project strengthened the expertise of software4production (S4P) in connecting production control and cyber-physical systems; the findings feed into the further development of S4P solutions (MES, APS).
