FELIOS User Meeting in Aachen: Practical Insights into Real-Time Scheduling and the Smart Factory

At this year's FELIOS User Meeting hosted by INFORM at the Tivoli football stadium in Aachen, the FELIOS|MES solution portfolio developed by S4P was presented and demonstrated. Two central topics took center stage:

  • BDE/MDE for transparent operating and machine data capture in the smart factory
  • FLS for dynamic real-time fine scheduling that optimally controls production processes and reacts flexibly to changes

Particularly impressive was the live demonstration by Martin Pleintinger of Liebherr Components Deggendorf, who showed how modern MES technologies transform the shop floor:

  • Container and batch management with unique serial number assignment
  • Direct machine communication via OPC UA for real-time data capture and feedback of target/actual values
  • SPC-based process monitoring for early detection of quality deviations
  • Claimtable quality assurance for structured analysis and tracking

With around 450 employees, Liebherr Components Deggendorf manufactures high-precision injection systems and injectors for the automotive industry, relying on seamless data flows, maximum transparency and fast responsiveness.

Benjamin Löffler and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Berlak used the event to engage in direct dialogue with numerous customers and to present current MES solutions live.

The practical examples and intensive technical discussions made one thing clear: real-time fine scheduling is no longer a concept of the future, but a decisive success factor for the agile and smart factory of today.

Many thanks to INFORM, Liebherr Components Deggendorf and all participants, partners and contributors for two inspiring days full of valuable impulses and technical insights.
